what happened?

Well well, what a month it was. All in all, it was pretty normal actually. After the Christmas holidays, school started again, as did work, and life in Leiden went on as normal. The 15 february party, which didn't exist by the way, was a great success, and I hope that another party like that will follow soon. During the last week of february I was really tense, seeing I was able to go to Japan again, and that was great! That's also the reason why the posts for march 2003 are so few in number, seeing I was in Japan all the time. This was also the month in which I started to do the almost daily mini-blog, and the Past Posts pages.

February 2003

12 - Wednesday - 11:00
It's good that I'm feeling better than a couple of days ago, because today it's that time again to go to school. I'm actually looking forward to that a lot, seeing the teacher who I have today is cool. Frans rocks!

12 - Wednesday - 21:51
How come that, whenever I'm at school, I always tend to stick there until just about everybody has left?! I met two Japanese guys though, who were quite friendly, so I invited them to our upcoming big 15 february party.

13 - Thursday - 00:04
I just spent a couple of hours trying to figure out how to move my page from the left side of your screen to the center. I think actually managed to kind of do this, but I'm still having trouble with tables. I'll be working on it. Let me know what you think.

13 - Thursday - 08:41
Sleep is of course a very good thing. Waking up and realizing that you have to do so much in one short day is not. These two facts just became clear to me again. Rearranging my room for the painters, translating, a meeting, teaching...

15 - Saturday - 02:04
Well, Valentine's Day was very very good. I got the coolest watch and book from Christina. The translations I did of an old Japanese text actually made sense. The party preparations are almost finished, and did I mention I got a tubular watch and also a book from Christina? Because I did!

15 - Saturday - 12:08
Just woke up real slowly, owned some people at Quake III and now it's time to prepare for tonight, or even this afternoon, seeing our big 15 february party is being held today. If you read this and still have time to visit, Please come over! You're more than welcome!

16 - Sunday - 11:00
Ohhh, why do we keep doing those kind of things to ourselves when we know with absolute certainty that we will feel very lousy the next day(s)? I'm pretty sure the party was a success, even though it had a slow start. And now I'm not feeling too well.

17 - Monday - 03:15
I just talked to a person who goes by the nickname of Hoonbaba, which was cool seeing the last time we talked was long ago. We cleaned the house today and had a great afterparty. Wouter was there until late and we made pancakes and stuff, that was pretty good.

17 - Monday - 23:16
Today was such a beautiful, beautiful day. Ever heard Louis Armstrong sing about what a wonderful world we're living in or could be living in? Well, Leiden today was that kind of place, and I enjoyed every second of it. We had a lovely peaceful atmosphere. Just perfect.

18 - Tuesday - 9:46
This tuesday promises to be another fine day. Or at least I hope so. I just got an email from Japanese TV-station Nihon Terebi to confirm that my ticket is underway. They didn't tell me yet when I'm going to go, so I hope I'll find out quickly, so I can arrange all kinds of stuff.

19 - Wednesday - 17:03
Tuesday was indeed a fine day! Not quite the same blissful atmosphere of monday, but it was a very good day in its own right. Everyone was peaceful, but since we were out drinking and doing school stuff, I was inside, so I didn't really notice how it was outside. Amsterdam -> Narita : February 26 !!

20 - Thursday - 14:10
I just got my ticket to Tokyo! On wednesday the 26th, I'll be flying with KLM to Narita Airport, and I'll arrive there at 09:25am local time on the 27th. Thank you Nihon Terebi, and let's hope that the upcoming show is going to be a success! I can't wait to be in Japan again, it's going to be good!

21 - Friday - 00:49
Today I met Yasuko Takigami, a Japanese girl who I taught english, and she totally astonished me by talking to me in fluent dutch! Her english has always been good, but I was amazed by the seemingly lack of effort it cost her to speak to me in perfect dutch. Way to go Yasuko! Keep up the good work!

21 - Friday - 9:18
Now, being called awake is usually not too good, but when it's by a Japanese person to discuss your upcoming trip to Tokyo, then it ain't too bad at all! It's getting so close now, I can't believe that I'll be there next week. Today, the weather looks good, and I think it's going to be just a fine day. Here's to hoping!

23 - Sunday - 00:03
And what another fine day this saturday proved itself to be. I had lunch with Marije, completely owned Ad at Quake III, and I talked to my former neighbour Alice. Also, I had pictures developed of Mart, my little nephew of 5 months old. I will have to get them scanned so I can post some here. He's just so cool!

23 - Sunday - 10:21
Today should be the cleaning day. Since I'm going to Japan on wednesday, I gotta clean my room, do all the laundry, maybe make some preparations to pack my suitcase. This might not seem like such a big task, but then again you haven't seen my room in its current state. I just saw some rabbits here.

24 - Monday - 00:44
Cleaning went well, but I didn't do as much as I was planning to do, though I have a floor again now, and I got most of my laundry done too. I met up with Ruud Nellen today, a good friend and we had a couple of beers outside, because the weather was beautiful again. Tomorrow's gonna be busy again...

25 - Tuesday - 8:27
Bah. Just woke up way too early, for today is going to be a busy busy day. Tomorrow I'm heading off for Japan, so any loose ends which might remain should be tied up today. And it always happens to me that I forget about a lot of them, so I'm sure they will all pop up today. The weather's beautiful though. Once again!

25 - Tuesday - 16:02
After a busy half-day, in which I received no less than three new Dave Brubeck piano books, I will now go to Amsterdam, where Jet and I will be cooking for a bunch of people. On the way there I will be reading my new books, while thinking of what I'm going to cook for everyone. And oh, oh, the weather's GREAT!

26 - Wednesday - 01:16
Dinner was great, although I didn't get to cook, seeing we didn't have enough oven space. We had two varieties of delicious lasagna though, and a couple of Grolsches to wash it all away. I just ironed all my laundry and packed my suitcase, so all that's left now is getting some sleep and go to Japan in the morning!

26 - Wednesday - morning
Well people, I'm almost in Japan now. I'm going to
keep this short, seeing I'm late already, and I don't
want to miss my flight! See you all in 2 weeks!
