what happened?

Right, so all of you are wondering what I'm always blabbing about on the index page in the first paragraph? Well have I got the solution for you both! Here, I will keep a little archive of what I've written in exactly that paragraph. For your reading pleasure, I will try to put everyhthing on here one month at a time. The oldest post of the month will be at the top. When you have no idea what I'm talking about, go back a few days and everything should become clear. Whenever I think it's worth it, I'll add a link to the more interesting things I mention. Try to expect not too many links.

August 2003

2 - Saturday - 00:12
I've just lost BIG time at Star Wars Monopoly. Marije, Wouter and Justus are still playing, and it seems that Wouter is going to win. By the way, Marije says 'hi' to everyone who's reading this. Now I'll have to update all the past posts pages, the thing I really don't like too much. Ah well, they're still playing for a while so I'll be good I guess....

4 - Monday - 11:35
The weather is so good, hence the lack of updates to this site. Yesterday I went to the beach with Kwannie, which was good, although I got a bit of a sunburn, but nothing too serious. Today I want to go again, but I'll have to print out my internship report and bring it to my faculty. Then I have to study kanji, and write another paper. It's all in the game I guess...

5 - Tuesday - 20:01
Today I worked in Almelo, for a lovely American couple, who more than amazed me with the fact that they introduced themselves in perfect Dutch, after being here for only four weeks! And not only the introductions were in Dutch, they actually knew a lot of the language already. I was baffled to say the least. I hope my English has been good enough to teach them a couple of things...

6 - Wednesday - 16:40
I'll be in Kerkrade for a couple of days. My nephew Mart is going to be baptized this saturday, and I have to visit the doctor. Of course, I'll also be seeing family and friends if all goes well. I just packed my bag, and soon I'll be in a train, sweatin' away, because the heat wave we're having here is really something else! See ya soon.

12 - Tuesday - 23:02
Hey, hello. I'm back in Leiden. Mart's baptized now, and we had a grand party afterwards. It lasted until about 5 in the morning, and I've seen people do things that I didn't think were possible. Fortunately, I made a lot of pictures, almost one hundred to be exact, and I'll have them developed tomorrow. Now That's going to be quite fun to see.

12 - Tuesday - 12:01
Right at this moment, I'm talking to my friend Jasper Bulk, who's having a good time in the wonderful city of Kumamoto in Japan. The connection we have with MSN Messenger is really fast, which makes for nice, uninterrupted conversations. He's sending me pictures and movies he made in Japan, and I'm so jealous when I see all the beautiful locations, food and girls he encountered.

13 - Wednesday - 10:58
It's El-Cid week in Leiden, which means that almost all of the students who will begin their time in Leiden this September are here right now. It's an introduction week. Yesterday, we went to Leiden and enjoyed beer for 80 cents, relaxed on the grass in the sun, and saw people hit eachother in a dirty swimming pool, because there was a jousting tournament. In the evening, we went to Noordwijk.

14 - Thursday - 13:47
Wouter and I spent yesterday evening in my room, relaxing and making movies for Bulk. Just imagine, almost one hour of film, and 2 guys who have absolutely nothing to say. Still, it was a lot of fun, and we watched 'Deuce Bigalow' too, which is always a funny movie. Tomorrow's my brother's birthday, so I'll probably go to Kerkrade and congratulate him.

15 - Friday - 11:21
Today is my brother's birthday. He turns 28, so all the best to him. I have some stuff to do here in Leiden, but when I'm finished, I'm going to see him in Kerkrade, where he lives. The good thing is, my bike has been fixed, so I can do all my things in a relatively short period of time. I'll probably be back on monday, so no updates until then. I'm not looking forward to sitting in a train for almost 4 hours though...

19 - Tuesday - 00:32
Once again, I had a great weekend in Kerkrade. I saw my brother again, his girlfriend and of course their son and my nephew Mart. I've bought Robbie Williams' great concert on DVD for my brother, and I watched it several times on his ass-kicking home cinema set with surround sound. I also visited Mark came by also, and I had dinner with Leilani, who I've known for a long time now. They had a new cat, which was so amazingly cute.

19 - Tuesday - 14:42
At last the Kanji test is over, and now I have the time again to do stuff. And the first thing I did was put new pictures on the site. Twenty-six of them to be exact. Be sure to check them out right here! The weather's great too, which makes today a very nice day indeed. I might go to the movies tonight, there are still a couple of things I'd like to see. Jasper, these pics are for you, I hope you enjoy them in the far away country of the rising sun.

22 - Friday - 17:42
Due to a virus and an attack by a hAx0r, I've been offline for about two days, which is also why there haven't been any updates, I'm sorry. And it's going to be quiet for a few more days, seeing I'll be heading for Tilburg in a few minutes, where I'm going to meet my old friend Bart, and we're going to go to the Efteling tomorrow, a great Dutch themepark. I'm really looking forward to it. The Efteling has a special place in the hearts of many Dutch people. Ooh, I can hardly wait.

24 - Sunday - 20:50
Oh, is the Efteling ever a good place to go. I was there with Bart, and the park was open until midnight. The Efteling is a very special place. All in one place, you'll see forest gnomes, little fairies, rollercoasters, characters who walked right out of fairy tales like little red riding hood, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, you name it. All in a very distinct style, created by Dutch artist Anton Pieck. The park is quite beautiful too, with a lot of nature, water and flowers. Dreamy.

25 - Monday - 17:35
Well, today I used a lot of time cleaning my room, and after doing that, and some laundry, I also found the time to scan a bunch of new pictures and put them on the site. If you click right here, you'll be be taken to the new album. They're all pictures from 2003, some older ones and some are very recent. Today, I have to teach English again, so I'd better cut this short and get on my way. Enjoy the pictures, if you will!

26 - Tuesday - 18:58
In a strange turn of events, I caught a cold, and a good one at that! All day long I've been blowing my nose, eating Dutch drop for my throat, using nose spray, smearing this balm stuff on me. Yurika is coming to Holland tomorrow, so I want to make sure that I'll be functional by then. This condition shouldn't take too long though, and I'm kinda glad it didn't happen during school.

27 - Wednesday - 17:56
When I went to pick up Yurika today, I found her with two Japanese girls, Mina and Kaori. They were on the same bus, and they'll be in Holland for a little while. After that, we went to Leiden and there we met Tim, who just came back from Japan. We had lunch together, which was really nice, we talked a lot. Tonight, we're probably going to watch a couple of movies, haven't done that in a while.

30 - Saturday - 23:56
I've been in Antwerp yesterday and today, and boy is that ever a nice city. It's quite big, and the buildings were more impressive than I thought they would be. I took quite some pictures there, and you can expect them on this site in a couple of days' time. In the meantime, it's almost time for Yurika to go home again, however sad that is. Today was Ad's birthday. Happy birthday! Ad rules.

31 - Sunday - 23:46
And thus, August ends with a bang. Yurika left for England today, but it wasn't all bad news, fortunately. For one thing, the first season of '24,' the exciting series starring Kiefer Sutherland, ended today. And man, what an ending it was, I thought it was really good. But they're not letting me rest after that, seeing the next season is starting next week! Never a moment's rest.
